Dear Copyright Awareness Week Participant:

Welcome to the Copyright Awareness Week 2007 website! The goal of this event is to encourage teachers from all subject areas to teach students basic concepts about copyright during Copyright Awareness Week. We hope that through this understanding, students will be more appreciative of the efforts of creative people and the protections the law affords them. Many people are avid users of copyrighted materials such as music, film, books, magazines, art and photographs, but they have little or no understanding about how these works are protected or why our forefathers felt copyright protections should be included in our constitution. We hope that you will enjoy learning about this important subject and that you will encourage other students, teachers and parents to engage in the study of copyright during Copyright Awareness Week.
