Congratulations go out to our Trustee Mary Rasenberger on being named Executive Director of the Authors Guild!
“This is a dream job,” Mary says in an announcement from the Guild. “I’ve focused most of my career on authors’ rights, and I’ve long admired the Guild’s spirit and advocacy. I’m thrilled to contribute what I can to the Guild’s noble mission and help ensure that writing remains a viable profession.”
Mary is extremely active in the Copyright Society. In addition to serving as trustee, she is co-chairing our new International Chapter, which will meet for the first time at our 2015 Mid-Winter Meeting. She also serves as New York Chapter Special Events Co-Chair and on our Membership Committee.
Mary will be leaving her position as partner at Cowan DeBaets Abrahams & Sheppard LLP. Along with her work in the private sector, she has held policy positions at the Copyright Office and directed the Library of Congress’s National Digital Preservation Program. Projects have included drafting the charter for the Library's National Digital Stewardship Alliance and overseeing the revision of the Compendium of U.S. Copyright Office Practices.
