Congratulations go out to Member Nancy J. Mertzel, who recently joined the law firm Herrick, Feinstein LLP as the chair of its intellectual property group. A partner in its New York office, Nancy will continue to advise clients on copyright, trademark and related IP matters, including a wide range of transactions and litigation.
An active member of the bar, Nancy currently serves on the Board of Directors of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, and previously served as a Trustee of the Copyright Society of the U.S.A. Earlier this year, she testified on AIPLA’s behalf before the House Judiciary Committee regarding the need for the U.S Copyright Office to have greater autonomy over its information technology and financial resources. She also recently authored two amicus curiae briefs filed with the U.S. Supreme Court, analyzing the legal issues in Petrella v. Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, andB&B Hardware, Inc. v. Hargis Industries, Inc.
Nancy is a graduate of American University’s Washington College of Law and the University of Rochester.
