Speakers

Scott J. Sholder (moderator) is a partner in the Litigation Group at Cowan, DeBaets, Abrahams & Sheppard LLP.  Scott represents individuals and companies in the entertainment, traditional and digital media, sports, and consumer products industries.  His practice focuses on matters involving copyrights, trademarks, the right of publicity, and contractual and business disputes.  Scott also counsels and defends social media and online news and content providers in connection with defamation and false light claims as well as image licensing and other online copyright issues. Prior to joining Cowan, DeBaets, Scott was a litigation associate at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP, and prior to entering private practice, he served as a law clerk to Hon. Leonard I. Garth, USCJ in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and Hon. Peter G. Sheridan, USDJ, in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey.

 


John M. Delehanty
is an experienced litigator and arbitrator with experience in Intellectual Property and Commercial Litigation, including computer software and patent, biotech, pharmaceutical contracts and licensing, employment, entertainment and other commercial disputes. He has 45 years of experience as a trial lawyer and is the author of many articles on ADR and intellectual property issues. He has served as Neutral (Chair, sole arbitrator) in over 30 arbitrations and over 45 mediations in the U.S. and abroad. He serves on the Professional Ethics Committee and chairs the Professional Disciplinary Committee for the New York State Bar Association. He is a graduate of Brown University (BA,1966) and University of Chicago Law School (JD, 1969).

 

Nancy E. Wolff is a Partner at Cowan, DeBaets, Abrahams & Sheppard LLP, where she advises clients in areas of intellectual property. Because of her in-depth knowledge of copyright, trademark, privacy  and publicity law, she provides guidance on best practices in using content, and offers pre-publication review of books, documentaries, films and television series. She represents clients in state and federal court, as well as in mediations. Nancy has been a frequent speaker throughout the United States and Europe on copyright, new technology and licensing, and is the author of the Professional Photographer's Legal Handbook (Allworth Press). Nancy is a graduate of the University of Maryland and Rutgers School of Law, where she was the Business Manager and Editor of the Rutgers Law Review. Nancy served as President of the Copyright Society from 2016-2018 and remains active in the Society as an Honorary Trustee.

 

CLE Credit

The Copyright Society is a Certified CLE Provider. Program will satisfy 1 NY and 1 PA CLE ethics credit.  The intermediate program is transitional and appropriate for both newly admitted and experienced attorneys.
